"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." ~ Anais Nin
Trust in the Light is the bud of a Lotus Flower waiting to bloom. This day was a day to remember. The plan was get up at dawn, meet my friend Emmah and go to the Hamilton Harbour Lotus Garden off Boston Neck Road in North Kingstown, RI. Here is their story. We were soooo happy we did. It was the summer of 2020 just when we were coming out of being locked down in the Covid 19 pandemic. We were so excited to be out! What we didn't expect was the awe and wonder of a bloooming lotus garden in the early morning light. Lotus buds close at night and open in the morning, so we were able to see full flowers bloom before our eyes! It was magical. I grew to appreciate the magnificence of these very special flowers that day. "The lotus flower is revered as a symbol of divine beauty and its growth from the lowly mud of the pond bottom holds a benign spiritual promise", according to Hindu and Buddhist faiths. For me, it became a metaphor for enduring and coming out of a worldwide pandemic. As I watched and photographed these incredible water plants that grow through the mud, it reminded me that we, too, can "Trust in the Light, Grow through the Mud, and Believe in New Beginnings". So, when All That Matters Yoga & Wellness was slowly opening up to the public and reached out because they saw my greeting card line on Instagram (new beginning), wanted to feature them in their shop, and asked to feature my floral artwork in there space, too, it was a no brainer and no coincidence as to what would be going in there. This triptych is now penned the "Lotus Vinyasa" and is proudly hanging in their lobby. It took me a full week to edit and create the artwork from these images I took. It was extremely hard to decide which ones to choose, but the progression from bud to blossom won every time.
Trust in the Light is gorgeous on any medium and will always remind you to do just that!
